Stuart, 
    The NY Times link at the end of your e-mail is one of the most exciting 
things I've ever read.   Flutes made from bird bone found in German caves, 
and initially dated as much as 35,000 years ago!   And from mammoth ivory!   

    I copied the article to share with our University of Pennsylvania 
(retired) anthropologist neighbor here on Chincoteague Island, Peggy Sanday.
