I went over the top (I get too stirred up sometimes) in the final sentence
of my last post and I¹m sure I confused and offended people. I apologize for
that.
The real point is that RS1 was designed to do one thing and ToP facilitation
is designed to do something quite different related, to be sure, but
distinctly different. ToP facilitation is not the new RS1 never was, not
intended to be and never will be. It is its offspring and has its own life.
No attempt to teach RS1 through facilitation events or get anyone to make
anything like a religious confession even in a sneaky way. I believe that
would be misguided entirely. Facilitation is not about teaching content
certainly not overtly and not covertly either. The focus in ToP facilitation
is enabling people to come to terms with their real situation and
transparently take a relationship to it. RS1 was oriented toward
³awakenment.² It had its day, played its role really well - and, I¹m
sure, can still do so in new forms like the Courage to Lead studies we do in
Canada and the Profound Journey events done in the US. ToP facilitation is
not intended to do that. It is focused on enabling people to transparently
take a relationship to their own given situation in ways that are meaningful
to them, there.
It¹s interesting to me that there¹s a generational shift in our history
here. The generation who created RS1 also took us to school in terms of
transparency. We spent several years talking about it and grounding it in
our lives. To me it was a truly transformative experience, as I¹ve mentioned
on several occasions. The generation that put ToP methodology into a
coherent body of knowledge and practice worked from that platform. We stood
- stand on their shoulders; so to speak. I am deeply grateful for those who
put all of this together in the 50¹s and 60¹s when I was a schoolboy. To me
it is seamless continuity and extremely valuable work.
