³ Facilitating in a profound sense means calling out the authentic humanity
among participants
in a group and assisting the group to become more than the sum of its parts.
It's a task of
reconciliation; of individuals with the group, of people with the
organization, and of people with
themselves.²

That¹s a clip from John Epps¹ paper ³Facilitation from the Inside Out.²
We use it in our 6 And Science of Participation course.

For many, this comes as a sense of relief at finding what they thought must
be there and hoped would be. It helps people name the pillars of their
practice. Clarifies things for them at a step deeper than ³methods as
tools.² They get the methods and a whacking great bag of tools, all in
alignment with their sense of purpose.

That¹s a few Œclips¹ I¹ve heard around the table in that course - after
reading that article and practicing at the same time. It¹s pretty much
what I said when I read it.

Have a look at it It is really good and very well written and it gets
at the heart of what I think we¹re trying to do as ToP facilitators.
