Yes, at the opening ask all the coal representative to break up into small groups and brain storm the pros and cons of going green. At the same time ask the green reps to break and do the same for coal.

Objectify the information (chart etc) and do a focused conversation about the results of the brain storms, ending with the question such as "what does this tell us (inform us) about the future and how we can work together for a sustainable energy program. "

  One of our neighbors is a consultant, and is up for doing a workshop for a statewide renewable energy group that will have folks from both sides (coal & green).  We've chatted about this a few times and he's open to ideas. He wants to see if he can bring them together to work on the renewable program, so they can get some traction toward the future rather than just feuding.
