When Lela posted the news of Jon's death on late Monday night, Ii ran upstairs to tell Charles and came back down to send you a note, but I just couldn't get the words together. And thus it has continued during the week. 

It has been almost 20 years since we visited you in Brussels, but the evening is still with us. Jon cooked dinner; the boys were there, and of course you were too. But mainly I remember Jon who was at his best. After dinner, he showed us the finished product of the work done on the NRM, taking pains to point out that Charles was listed among those contributing. And on your window sill or perhaps on a table near the window was a small crucifix, an image that has remained with me. It was somewhat later that you decided to remain in Europe and moved to The Netherlands. I don't know in detail what Jon has done since that time, but I have no doubt that his facilitation work has been a conduit for his depth spirit passion. We will miss him.
