Dear Jim,
Thanks for your written offering naming some of Jim Jewell's contributions
to/for/within the Order. The title, "Those who wait on the Lord ...", will
be one of the songs we will sing a his memorial service on Sunday. Our
times with Jim over the past few years has been wonderful. Knowing that I
would receive one of his very special hugs each month as we gathered for
lunch was worth waiting for ... and they were special!
This song has been ringing in my head lately and it is amazing how many
faces come to mind as I sing it. One, of course, is Joe. One morning as we
gathered in the collegium room in Kawangware, Geri and Warren began singing
"Those who wait .... ", Joe had died a few hours earlier. Don Baker and
Rose Worden's faces come come into my mind, .... as many of our Seattle
area colleagues gathered on Friday nights before both Rose and Don died to
sing and tell stories ... and now the faces of Jim and Stan Crow join the
many others that have died on the march.
Our stories, songs and symbols have and will continue to hold us in being as
community, a community of spirit souls!
With love and gratitude,
Nancy
