Pricilla's message (see below) moves me to remind everyone that the month of May will be a focused time at ICA devoted to work on the Archives. We hope to have several people come to Chicago for at least a week. Our aim is to have a minimum of six people, and hopefully more, working on the Archives at any one time during the month. Several tasks are envisioned ranging from (1) organizing materials and transferring them to proper acid free folders and storage cartons, (2) placing them on new archival shelves in designated rooms on the sixth floor, (3) identifying gaps in documentation, and (4) sending out requests to fill the gaps. In addition, we anticipate a lively community life each week with some -- but not overly done -- complementary activities and celebration. If people are interested, for example, we might arrange to see a good movie together or study a good book. More information will soon be coming your way about this "sojourner" opportunity but I hope many of you are already considering the idea of coming to Chicago in May.

My lovely wife, Pamela, has recently decided to lead the way in voluntary effort in this regards: she has agreed to work with Marge Philbrook in coordinating the tasks, eventfulness, and all other details to ensure that a great time will be had by all who come in May. We also are in process of getting the eighth floor in tip-top shape for this and other events. If you have questions about May activities, please contact Pam, Marge, or myself.

Finally, for those of you who have various items that might be of interest for the Archives, please keep the Archives work in mind as you clean out you old storage areas.

Terry

They range from Sound of Music and Music Man to Arturo Toscanini and Enrico Caruso...and almost everything in between. (No country music). If you are interested or know anyone who collects such things let me know. I don't want to throw them away...I know someone out there would like them.
