Just the old Biblical Southern Baptist coming out in me. Hi to Joe!

By the way, Bill Holmes Book, "Mature Christianity" (see our website below)

Thank you, M. George!! Observational, reflective, critical/analytical and
decisional thinking has been our evolving gift as human beings for a very
long time, or we would not have survived.

Jesus invented ORID - Luke 12:54-57

Jesus said to the crowds, "When you see a cloud coming up in the west, you
immediately say, 'There's going to be a rainstorm,' and it happens.
<http://bible.cc/luke/12-55.htm> 55When you see a south wind blowing, you
say, 'It's going to be hot,' and that's what happens.
<http://bible.cc/luke/12-56.htm> 56You hypocrites! You can forecast the
weather by judging the appearance of earth and sky. But for some reason you
don't know how to judge the time in which you're living.

<http://bible.cc/luke/12-57.htm> 57So why don't you judge for yourselves
what is right?

Same roods for ORID and Observe, Judge Weigh-up Decide and Act.

Let's move on to how to apply this to a lot of critcal issues we have right
now - footnote Jesus. We know what this got him. It was a little worse than
just getting arrested.

With kindest regards.

In my mind, John Dewey invented ORID in the 1920's. And Vygotsky came up
with a brilliant theory of how groups construct knowledge/meaning in the
1930's. I wouldn't be surprised if you could trace the roots of ORID back
to some disgruntled discipline of Socrates who developed a grounded method
of questioning.

It's a pity that many in the software field construct artificial ownership
of ideas in order to monopolize and tax certain standards and behaviors
online. Open source software is growing and replacing that old model of IP.
In the print field, creative commons has great models, and I love the
decisions that Doug and the ICA USA have chosen to give full use/reuse for
all the ICA digital materials.

I also really like the ICA Canada model that Wayne described, which does not
copyright the ideas, but rather the manuals, which took so long to produce
and deserve not only attribution, but royalties to the graphic designers and
writers who produced those particular works.

Cheers to all, and hope to join the caravan to 4750 Sheridan to work on the
archives someday.

Good story. I bet 100 things like that happened - probably more. This
methodology didn't come together in one sitting. It did take place through
years of "action research" of that nature. The movie in question was
probably "High Noon."

While Mathews was in Texas he, Lewis and the others began showing a movie,
a western I believe, and started doing a conversation about it. They rented
the 16mm film from a company that rented films to schools, churches, etc. In
the shipping container was always a sheet of paper with a set of suggested
discussion questions. This sheet was usually discarded. At some point
someone, probably Joe Pierce, decided to read it and realized that there was
more there than met the eye. There was always fouur questions and they
always seem to ollow a certain order. Thgereupon, they all sat down and held
one of the earliest problem solving units or PSU. What they came up with
was the artform method of ORID method
