Tim Wegner took some great pictures - I have some. I remember one day during Ramadan, Abdul Hamid was turning the hand auger thru the limestone shelf, that finally resulted in clean water, I asked him why he chose to do this in very hot  weather -( in the hundreds), he said  "love is a thousand deeds".   I still thank him for that reminder.

It continues to feed my life.   jean

Extend your hand; so I can kiss it.

Thank you.

I’m in no hurry, it’s just an idea at the moment.

They have a photo-montage on their wall at the Bayad Training Centre. Jo and I said we would seek out more early photos to build the story base deeper.  That’s my words right now, but that topic came up in many conversations – mostly because we remember our experience pretty well.

So I’m thinking about a gift – pretty vaguely, though. Pictures are in my mind at the moment.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Wayne,
I am trying to figure out the process and timing to make these available to Archives etc.  Then work it out within my physical limitations, and timing.  Also have pictures.

I would be very interested in access too those file, if possible.  Thank you, Sarah. People from Bayad – Nadia Ahmed, Mosa Sallama, Gamalette Monsoiur. Said Riskalla, Farah Hanna, Abd El Hamid Mohammed among them send their greetings and thanks. For real.

On our March ‘10 visit to Bayad, our conversations with ICA staff surfaced that the current ICA staff feel they have little knowledge of ICA’s early  Bayad / Egypt history. They don’t have the stories – the links of common memory are loosening. They know it, but there seems to be veil creeping over the early years.

It would be interesting to gather stories and images and photos about ICA’s work there. I’m thinking of ‘76 to maybe ‘86. Something like that.

David, I have found my overflowing box on the early days in Bayad, but haven't been able to get it to you yet. Better late than never, I hope. I am currently compiling a general inventory  of 7 other archive boxes of mine.

Hello colleagues.

Jan Ulangca and Randy and Mary Beth Williams join us this week. Jan arrived yesterday. We expect the Williams tomorrow.  We're working on human development projects, documenting our work and lessons learned, and debriefing with Terry Bergdall this Friday afternoon before we head off in all directions.

This has been a wild ride so far. Our learning curve is just barely keeping up with our hopes and expectations for making a big dent in the stored archive files.

I've been bending and riveting a new web site into being , just to keep the Archive Project visible and engaging. We'll see if it's airworthy and safe for the average passenger, with enough leg room for long people and sufficiently easy to read safety instructions for anyone new to air travel and short on flying experience.

Click on the link—ei-oe-ica.org < http://www.ei-oe-ica.org > —to visit the web site. I've posted new photos on FlickrDotCom and also embedded the same Flickr photo gallery in the new site. It's set up as a blog with extra pages and has a few posts with the beginnings of an online collection of archive treasures. It also has some funky habits and rough edges, so be patient while we work out the bugs.

This is supposed to be super-user-friendly and very useful. Add comments, give me feedback and make suggestions.
