[Dialogue] Thoughts on ICA-USA Future

Thanks for your paper, Jack. It bears all the telltale marks of ICA/EI/OE
collegiality and our corporate heritage.
As I'm counting down the last 5 days B4 clicking over 70,000 miles on the
old-ometer, and creaking on creaking on, as they say, I find myself missing the
fantastic dynamism that was manifested in our Order.
What it would take to breathe life into your program is reconstituting some form
of the Order dynamic -- with some younger, energetic colleagues. Like
reconstituting frozen orange juice concentrate, it would take a lot of watering
and stirring the pot to bring back to life our 'frozen' human assets in
palatable form.
You call for 'priorship.' We can't "go back" to the way it was (at some
idealized point in time) but we CAN go forward. That might mean something like
filling up the Kemper Building once again with an intentional transformational
leadership force. I might even go for that in my old age, if we could kind of
mix that dynamic with something like an Order Rest Home! (You know, with
nap-time included as necessary! Oh yeah, and maybe less round-the-clock
enablement for us wheezers.)
An authentically transgenerational community that offered amazing
learning/living opportunities for college students combined with access to a
bunch of us old graybeards (and gray-haired women too) might just surprise and
energize us all.
Just a thought B4 I put the 70 candles on the cake.
Marshall

Subject: [Dialogue] Thoughts on ICA-USA Future

Dear Colleagues,

Attached is a document on my thoughts regarding the future of the ICA-USA now
that it has a Board of historically knowledgeable colleagues and a new Director
in Terry Bergdall. I'm not sure this really needs to go to both list-serves,
but I'm doing so. I'll let Terry and the Board decide if and how they would
like to structure dialogue on this topic.

Peace,

Jack
