Swimmy by Leo Lionni (Childrens RSI-Being the church)
Conversation to follow reading Swimmy
What are some of the pictures you remember? What creatures did Swimmy see?
What are some of the feelings you had as I read this story? When did you feel this?
What are some words of questions you remember that were asked?
Why were the little fish hiding at the bottom of the sea?
They were pretty scared. When have you felt scared? When have you wanted to hide?
What scares you today?
What was Swimmys plan?
Whats a little scary in school?
What is one thing we could do working together that might change that?
Paradigm Shifters
You can be a Swimmy. What are some ways?
I Wish I Were A Butterfly by James Howe (Childrens RSI-the Word)
Conversation to follow reading:
1. What are some of the lines or words you remember?
2. Who are the characters in this story?
3. Where were you feeling sad? Upset or little mad? Happy?
4. Why was Little Cricket so sad?
5. Do you know anyone who has ever felt like Little Cricket?
6. When have you felt a little sad because you wished you were a little different?
7. What were some of the things Little Cricket learned? From Glowworm, ladybug, dragon fly, Old one,?
8. What did he learn from the butterfly?
9. Who might look at you and wish they were like you?
10. If you were to remember one thing from this story to tell your friends or to tell yourself, what would it be?
Getting off stage: Sometimes something happens to make us feel a little like Little Cricket, but remember, (use some of the things they remembered) there is always a butterfly flying overhead to remind us of who we are, special!
