I sat down at my computer to brag about my daughter, and found all the
dialogue about funds, college, travel, etc., so it really segues into my
intended email.
I thought those of you who remember (or currently know) our youngest
daughter, Brooke, would be interested to know that she is on a two-week
experience in India. Brooke is a National Board Certified teacher of music at
Peirce Elementary in the Chicago Public Schools - on Bryn Mawr Ave between
Broadway and Clark. She was also a 2008 winner of the Golden Apple Award for
teaching. She was surprised in her classroom by Mayor Richard Daley and
Arne Duncan, CPS CEO at the time, with a basket of apples topped by a gold
apple. In addition to teaching, Brooke directs the choir at Edgewater
Presbyterian Church. (Choir members include Rosemary Albright, Lela Philbrook.
and Pam Bergdall).
You will notice that Brooke wrote a grant for this trip. (Makes former
Development Centrum parents proud of this skill she puts to use frequently
for her school)
Anyway, Brooke is keeping a blog of her trip, which anyone who is
interested may access by this link:

On the subject of College Fund, all three of our daughters received
college funds from the Order while they were in college at Ohio Wesleyan
University. Since we were living the "poverty lifestyle", numerous other
scholarships and grants and loans helped them all to graduate. We are very grateful
for that.
Doing the Directory has kept me up and in touch with so many of you, and
this Dialogue has been so interesting, even though we don't participate in
writing much.
About 6 weeks ago I was rummaging through a drawer and came across the
guild symbol ring I got when Lyn Matthews Edwards returned from a trip to
India in the 70's. I put it on, and it still fits. I've kept it on, and enjoy
looking at it as a reminder of the past 43 years since that first RSI in
Cleveland, taught by Bob Vance and Carlos Zervigon. What an impact on our
family that ring symbolizes!
Grace, Peace, and Love,
Mike Tippett (and Judith, too)
