Larry,

I once did the following exercise do the following on the Sea of Tranqulity.
 This was done at an event that was hosed by John and Ann Epps

These ar the steps that I remember:
Have people draw the ocean as they remember it ( we are not looking for
art..but engaging with the image)
Then have them remember and write down experiences with life using the
turbulence of the sea as the metaphor.  (This is more like a mind map).
Write down feelings and associated memories to those incidents.
Then look for the tranquility that there is at the bottom of the ocean.  I
had people share their stuff in groups of two or three.
