Subject: Remembering Sandra True
Dear Friends, and Loved Ones,
You may already know, but it is with deep sorrow that I am writing to tell you that Sandra died on January 24, 2011.
I find myself both empty with deep loss, and filled to overflowing with appreciation for the life we shared together.
Her obituary, printed January 30, 2011 in the New York Times:
TRUE--Sandra Anderson. January 24. Age 68, Nursing degree McGill University, MPH, Loma Linda University. Dedicated her life for the welfare of humanity worldwide. Always knew your name and was there to help. Lovely laugh, warrior spirit woman, now scattered to the four winds. Donations: Sandra True Memorial Fund, Institute of Cultural Affairs. Contact: chicago at ica-usa.org Memorials-New York City, Denver, LA, dates TBA, and at Legacy.com In love and gratitude, Bob, Lynn, Mark, and too many to be named.
And also we have opened a memorial web site at Legacy.com : http://www.legacy.com/NS/. Type in her name in the search area and once on her page, we welcome you to share remembrances on the Guest Book there.
We received many prayers in her final hours and there is one that in particular I believe she would say to all of us.
Do not stand at my grave and weep - I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die.
From Beret Griffith - a Native American Prayer.
This year Sandra started her term as President of the board of ICA, and organization we have worked with since 1972. ICA continues to do powerful work world wide. The ICA has established a Sandra True Memorial Fund. In lieu of any flowers, etc we the family request donations to the Fund. Please know that we have pledged to match your donations. She will be very pleased to know that her work of love has been empowered through our gifts. To donate please email: chicago at ica-usa.org or send checks to:
Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA),
4750 North Sheridan Road
Chicago, Illinois, USA 60640

We will be planning memorials in New York, Denver and Los Angeles. I will make announcements as plans solidify.
We are profoundly aware of what a great community of life Sandra and I share with you.
Please feel free to forward this, in case I have missed anyone.
