Interesting LENS history Jack, that I never knew.

Do you remember the ideas
that
-kept the ronin story [a key story in your view I think I remember]

and took out
-social space [triangles]
-spirit space [other world images]
-cross-cultural space [ Hindu phases, Tao conserving/venturing, Christian
rationality K's arrows]?

we seem to have found these bits unworkable.
I wonder why this is so

Seems like the "reformed" version of LENS  emphasized
-the pressure point  "deliberative systems"
-for organizations and
-for communities [the local consults at Human Development Projects]

In hindsight you could look at this as a brilliant way of being in the world
with skillful means
-a way of being the trans-establishment [the cultural meaning making
dynamic]
-rebalancing social systems [ala Kenneth Boulding's Systems Theory]
-taking on a "basic role" [as a facilitator or meeting manager or human
development consultant]

Re: the other world
I think you intuitions are right - that the OW is not sequential but
continuous & real time/here
It is puzzling to me why it seems to exist as a dead artifact -like sets &
sets of small boxes on a grid
with words stuffed in them as if they are old prayers - like scraps of paper
stuck in a prayer wall
from long ago and far away.

I want to know what makes the other world in the world real time & current
and vital not a bunch of prayer boxes
or a crossword puzzle to fill in your own blanks from obscure clues.

To quote Dogen who started a religious order 800 years ago in Japan:
-Longed for leaves fall, hate weeds flourish...
-What did the monk see that he expresses by bowing

I'd rather see the OWIW as an opportunity to express beginners mind at every
point like
Shunryu Suzuki said:

I think the OW Art and Charts are an unrecognized jewel.

Sorry not trying to be provocative here just honor some previous and
seemingly unused creativity.
I intuit that there is something to appropriate in the other world art and
charts, I'm just not sure what it is.

Wish we had some good examples like we do for the social process triangles,
pressure points, rebalancing,
trans-establishment style which is the new religious mode - the way we've
developed and practiced so
long for being in the world with skillful means.

Might be time for Beginners Mind again...
