[Dialogue] Gratefulness

Priscilla,

I joined with many colleagues in sending prayers and healing thoughts to
you. I never put pen to paper or fingers on keyboard to let you know. Rob
will be missed by many as we remember his generosity of service and his care
for the world. I'm glad you have much love and support during this hard time
of grieving. I'll add the poem to my file on death and dying.

As to the RR memorabilia and a real RR buff, Ron Griffith was the first name
that popped into my mind. Ironic isn't it. When he and Beret visited us in
Reno, we went to the NV State RR museum in Carson City and I saw his delight
in the old engines and such. That visit was the last time we saw him.

I'm sure your many colleagues, family and friends are reminding you to take
care for/of yourself. Please do.

Pat

Subject: [Dialogue] Gratefulness

My heart has overflowed with gratefulness during the last month. The
support, love, tributes to Rod and the care I have received from colleagues,
family and church community have been overwhelming. I thank one and all.

A friend in the Kansas City Writer's Group published this poem in a local
paper this week. It spoke to some of my recent thoughts.

Noted in passing

By DeMar Regier

Growing up, I was taught to pass food to the right,

never to pass driving up a hill.

In school I studied to pass tests,

in church, to pass the peace.

I dated guys who made passes

and soldiers who had a weekend pass.

Later, I often passed up bargains, good deals;

learned to abandon passing fancies.

On the positive, I've

passed on compliments, brought events to pass,

helped get a bill passed.

Thus, I have known passes, passing, and passed,

so---when my time here is ended

Please don't say, She passed.

 Simply say, She died.

Two other thoughts this morning. The fact that Rod and I had long
conversations about what we wanted to happen at our own death made life
bearable during the last few week. I highly recommend those conversations
for every family - no matter how young or old you are.

Also...in going through his stuff...we have a small box of Santa Fe RR
memorabilia. I would like to give it to someone who is a real railroad buff.
If you know of such a person you might let me know.

A blessed July to one and all. Thank you for being my colleagues.
