Hello Colleagues.

I've been privileged to work with a new spirit colleague for the last several months: Madhuvanti Anantharajan, an Indian artist and art educator who is the illustrator for a women's empowerment manual that I'm publishing for the Huairou Commission in New York City.*

Do a Google search for Madhuvanti Anantharajan for an impressive sampling of her work and engagements. **

Here's the question that needs broad input:

Who in our network and extended relations should Madhu and I engage with the question of support for the mid-career professional development of an Indian colleague who works on arts and social justice education at the community level in India? ***

Thanks for any and all thoughts.

David

ps. You could engage Madhu directly if you wished, but please copy me.

Madhu wrote: I have been accepted to the Harvard Graduate School of Education for a one year Masters course called The Arts in Education, and to the Maryland Institute College of Art for a one year + one summer Masters in Community Arts. Both these courses feel like very organic extensions of the work I've been doing so far, but in slightly different ways. My first preference is Harvard, where the course feel like a remarkably good fit for me - academic enquiry into the various roles that the arts play in education, emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue. The course in MICA is a close second for me, with a strong emphasis on the arts and social justice education.
I see my work in the future based primarily in India, with a focus on the arts and history education at the community level.
