Fits well with Chaos theory that "chaos" is simply a new emerging pattern we
are not yet able to recognize.

With kindest regards.

Jim, to shed some light on your conumbdrum relative to have the quote
addresses my life and the comment about dresses in yummy claret, chocolate
and indigo. I am involved in Occupy Wall street in Moab and have been doing
some writing and research. The more I read and listen the more the Oates
quote came to me and seemed appropriate for the times. As for the dress, my
daughter is getting married and my granddaughters told me as mother of the
bride, I need a new dress. And I responded "Ha. I live in Moab and I am
now shaped like an apple,

"these are the times we are the people."

I stand corrected - The other was, indeed, Joyce Carol Oates. At least
according to "us." I found all the quotes in the Wedgeblade repository:

BREAKFAST RITUALS (during LENS course)

MONDAY: "THE TASK BEFORE US NOW, IF WE WOULD NOT PERISH, IS TO SHAKE OFF OUR
ANCIENT PREJUDICES. AND TO BUILD THE EARTH."

Teilhard de Chardin

TUESDAY: "AT THE EDGE OF HISTORY THE FUTURE IS BLOWING WILDLY IN OUR FACES,
SOMETIMES BRIGHTENING THE AIR AND SOMETIMES BLINDING US."

William Irwin Thompson

WEDNESDAY: "WHAT APPEARS TO BE A BREAKING DOWN OF CIVILIZATION MAY WELL BE
SIMPLY THE BREAKING UP OF OLD FORMS BY LIFE ITSELF."

Joyce Carol Oates

THURSDAY: "WE HAVE ARRIVED AT AN HISTORICAL VANTAGE POINT. WHERE THE
WASTELAND ENDS AND...HUMAN WHOLENESS AND FULFILLMENT BEGINS."

Theodore Roszak

FRIDAY: "MAN ANTICIPATES MORE OR LESS CLEARLY HIS ENTIRE FUTURE AT EVERY
MOMENT."

Jose Ortega y Gassett

According to page 9 of my town meeting 76 document it is Joyce Carol Oates.

Another place to search for a dress is WomanWithin - womanwithin.com
<http://womanwithin.com/> . They have a lovely dress that is in tiers with
elbow length sleeves for $45.00. Look at it - comes in claret, indigo and
chocolate! Yum!!

Great to talk with you last night! Love, Clare

Hi,

does anyone know the correct qote that goes soething like "What appears to
be the breaking up of civiliztion is the emergence of new forms by life
itself. I realize I have the quote somewhat garbled. It was on one of the
posters we hung when doing Town Meetings in the States. I would also like
to know the atribution of the quote. I asm currently dowing some writng for
a local group and that quote seems to be very appropriate to the
conversation.

Thanks for any and all help.
