[Dialogue] Liberia

There is a great film, about a year old, called Pray the Devil Back to Hell, which tells the story about the Liberian women who went to Accra, Ghana during the Liberian peace talks, which had been stalling. The women sat outside the door to the negotiations and stated they would not leave until there was a peace agreement. Quite a film. The other Liberian to win the Nobel Peace Prize this year was the leader of this women's group.

Public TV ran a great segment on Liberia a couple of weeks ago. You might want to see if it's in their online archives.

She has mentioned my name as being important in her early life, when she was 16 and a senior at the College of West Africa in Monrovia, Liberia, where I taught Chemistry to the seniors in 1954-1955, her senior year in high school. What a privilege! Saw unlimited potential in her very tiny being... at that time. May she run at the head of the pack in voting for the next president for Liberia on Tuesday, October 11. Keep posted.
