Dear Colleagues,

Today I watched a memorial service taking place in Gander, Newfoundland where on 9/11 some 37 planes
coming in from Europe to the USA were diverted to land in Gander after the airspace closed in the USA.
6700 people showed up that day in a town of 10,000 people. Friendships were forged that week and
have lasted . Many Americans showed up in Gander today to say thank you.

This website shares just a little bit about the service today: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2011/09/11/canada-sept11.html

In 2009, Tom Brokaw did a program on Gander and 9/11. You can see it at:
 jaretmanuel.com/msnbc-gander-tom-brokaw-911-operation-yellow-ribbon-story

Canada has now declared that 9/11 will be a day of service.

Peace,

Jeanette
