Birthed of earth
Plate and Cup
Molded for mirth
Fashioned to sup
Destined to serve—
Bottoms up!
 
            Paten of hospitality, palette of fate
            Breaking bread in commensality
            Feeding pangs of planet’s hungry
            Sharing snack and meal and sustenance
            Brokenness morphed to spirit’s wholeness
 
            Cup of kindness, chalice of grace
            Pouring tea or quenching thirst’s taste
            Cup overflowing, lubricating cheers and toasts of
            Soul’s libation and consecration
            Wholeness transformed to Gaia’s reconciliation
 
Plate and Cup
Offering wheat and fruit of vine—
Bread and wine for all space and time
The gifts of the universe for the species of the universe
Reconciliation occupied by Creation’s Word
 
Plate and Cup
Terra cotta-ed turf
Cosmic mirth
Fashioned to sup
Destined to serve—
Bottoms up!
