Journey Pathway
The journey from college campus ministry to the local church
to community and organizational development was the journey of
several life times. The Institute of Cultural Affairs emerged
to where it is today as a stellar part of the worldwide development
community because of the depth of its understanding, its commitment
and its disciplined life style. This pathway provides an overview
of its history and an overview of how its methods evolved.
1952 - 1963
- arising out of work with university students the staff began
working also with interfaith local church laymen and ministers
1964 - 1969
- moving to Chicago was also a move to the continent and worldwide
as well as entering the domain of community development
1970 - 1984
- working with local communities led the staff and its constituency
to work in rural villages as well as urban neighborhoods
Beyond 1984
- remaining locally based and spearheaded with many local people
around the world the Institute has diversified and adapted to
the demands of the future
