THE FRIDAY DINNER SERIES

19 spring semester 61

Every age is both the creator and victim of its historical destiny; ours is no different. We find ourselves today in the midst of a matrix of possibilities and necessities. Together these form the demands and the callings the vocations for our age, Various responses are possible, but at least one is necessary: to know. At least to know our time, at least to be sensitive to the vocation which offer us the possibility and the necessity for living, not as lone individuals, but as individuals in the midst of a certain time and place, that is, in the midst of history.
