Key to the New Ecumenism


The wells and the water table are the key to the new ecumenism.

It is both grassroot and radical.

The overarching approach must necessarily be abstract.

The local approach pushes to the profound.

And here is the real, the effective, the historical difference.

This is the bending of the trends of history­--

when the inclusive meets the concrete

or the concrete meets the inclusive.

Here is the awe­full universal church.

Here is the land of the Jesus man.
