Dearest Lynda,

This is hard to explain, but...

First of all, our deep sympathy for the loss of your Mom. We have both
lost ours, and know what a void it brings to one's life. When my (Jim's)
Mom died, we were informed over long distance lines. On the plane flight
back East, there was a moment when the plane's engines revved so loud that
noone in the plane could hear anything else, and I "heard" myself yell,
"MOM!!!" as loud as I could; There was noone to share the experience with;
I was so totally alone in my sorrow...

Which brings me to the difficult thing to explain. When I signed on to my
email account, it said that three new messages were waiting. The first
one, with a date of June 20, said it was from Lynda Cock, and the subject
was listed as, "The death of Lynda Cock'"! The end of the subject--s
Mother--was omitted due to the length of the line of information!

I can't describe to you the feelings that went on through me. Suffice to
say that they did. What I do want to say is that I (we) feel deep empathy
as well as sympathy towards you and your loss. We are at the same moment
rejoicing that you are still alive, and our mixed emotions are
inexplicable.

As for Oliveann, she is in California with son Jim, preparing for a trip
together to China, where they will exchange educational philosophies with
academics from there. Am so thankful for this opportunity life has
given them...

Bless you, and John, and those in your care. And, yes--with a mixture of
Sorrow and Joy,

Love from Denver,

Jim Slotta
