[Oe List ...] Shocked and Awed

Dear Ones,

I have been listening to KPFA, Pacifica network all day.  Very left-wing, and 
I have found it extremely comforting, since I can hardly bear to think of 
GWB's whine in my ear for the next four years.  (I usually leave the room when he 
comes on t.v., to pray.)  Kerry was so much more appealing to me, enough that 
I sent money to the campaign and wrote letters to women in Florida who didn't 
vote last time.

I do think people voted out of fear, and not just fear of terrorism, but of 
the "threat" of gay marriage.  Having that issue on the ballots in 11 states 
was genius, bringing out more voters than all the young people the Democrats 
were able to get out.

Surely we can improve the electoral process before we go through this again.  
What an incredible waste of money and energy!  What was it?  $500,000,000 on 
tv advertising that didn't change anything for the innocent suffering here or 
in Iraq.  I am considering changing my party affiliation.  The Democrats seem 
to be just as addicted to warfare and petroleum and corporate interests as the 
Republicans.

I do hope that David's idea of an online workshop is acted on.  I know this 
letter is rather a ramble, and I apologize.  I awoke in dread this morning, but 
still appreciated the hummingbird, bringer of joy, outside our window.  Chop 
wood, carry water, pray, and let's strategize.
