I'm responding to Jan McGuire's "Shocked and Awed" message. Lois told me
that Chris Matthews of that TV show "Hardball" said something that probably
lays the blame for what happened in the election squarely at the feet of
many clergy in this country. She told me he said that most of the people of
those "red" states in the center of the country and the south still believe
that the world was created in 6 days. He said the people on the coasts find
that hard to believe, but it's true! I do think that the Dem.s did not
realize that this "moral values" issue was going to get the play that it
got, and if they had, they could have portrayed the "real" moral values that
George Bush and Dick Cheney have displayed. If we ever get to the bottom of
the "genius" ideas that she mentions, it will probably have Karl Rove's
fingerprints all over it. David Zollars
