[Oe List ...] Another snapshot of Ruthe and George

Jim and Denver Colleagues, Indeed it does seem the Denver Region has had
more than its share. We remember fondly our work with many on your list with
whom we were privileged to work during our assignment to the Denver Region.
We give thanks for the strength, deep care and faith in the future that you
as a spirit community have demonstrated in this situation. We appreciate so
much your care for our extended community by keeping us all included in the
remembrance of our colleagues.

A "snapshot" that I shared with the Yost family in some detail was of our
time in Southeast Asia with George and Ruth. The Yosts were assigned to
Malaysia and had been there for a time before our family arrived in Kelapa
Dua. I recall the grace and ease with which Ruthe embraced the hardships of
living in 3rd World situations (challenges with water, toilets, dip baths,
transportation etc.). She made it all seem so easy with her
nothing-is-impossible attitude. The same strength and grace was evident to
me in several phone conversations I had with her after her diagnosis...even
though she was well aware of her limited timeline. Her "yes" to life.

In the spirit of our adage that "there is no retirement," George and Ruth
took on the publication of The Directory for several years until George's
sight became too impaired. We give thanks for the expenditure that went into
that. Then began a new expenditure of caring for each other in their
illnesses. Indeed, George and Ruthe are demonstrations of the role of
elders in our society.

Our care is with their children and families as we give thanks for George
and Ruthe's lives and as we mark Ruthe's now completed life. Journey on.

Lynda and John Cock

Subject: Re: [Oe List ...] Fwd: Memorial Celebration for Ruthe Yost

Jim Johnson; Mark Reames; Craig Webb; Art Smith; Ruth Larsen; E. Lee Sugg;
Terrence Wright; others; and now Ruthe Yost. We in the Denver Region of the
ICA have experienced separation via death to the extent of feeling that it
has been more than our share. But then we recall our common faith, based on
the Word about Life, and we, to a person, are able to continue to say YES TO
LIFE AS IT IS, and to go on living our own lives.

That said, details from the life, including the death, of Ruthe need
recalled for all of us, including our larger movement of colleagues. I can
remember 'snapshots' of vision into Ruthe's life. Here are two:

* At her and George's 50th Wedding Anniversary, when the layout of
pictures and the sharing of stories about this great woman and her family
overwhelmed me, as exemplified when (I swear) six generations of Yosts
formed a chorus and filled the room of celebration with heavenly harmony.

* At her mother's funeral in Loveland, Colorado, when I first
understood from whence came the strength and wisdom, faith and determination
of this giant of a woman, Ruthe.

May the Mystery continue to strengthen us with new colleagues, and with the
power received through shared stories from the lives of those who have died
on the march. Stories from the lives of people like Ruthe Yost.

Grace and peace,

Jim Slotta
