Dear Doris,
Thank you for letting us know about Charles and his need for surgery 
tomorrow. The listserve is such a good way to keep us informed about our 
dear colleagues .
Jim and I will remember him in our prayers this evening and tomorrow, and 
the coming days.
We hope that you both will feel supported by people like us,  who are far 
distant from you geographically-  yet very close in the spirit.
