Len Dresslar was an example of the success of Joe's "North Shore"
strategy. As I remember it he participated in happenings with the O:E
when he could, as one of those awesome "Guardians" (a role infinitely
harder to fulfil than being a fully-fledged "order member").

I remember he came with a number of the other Guardians when Joe -
with Slicker, McCleskey, Rafos and others - came to do RS1 and then
one the first editions of LENS, on successive weekends in Caracas,
Venezuela (end-1971, I believe).

That was my first encounter with the movement. I remember Len as a
handsome, diffident character who added a generous presence to
proceedings. He certainly did not flourish any fame he may have had.
(As a Caracas-based Brit, I'd no idea what a Jolly Green Giant was anyway.)

Len was an example of someone who used his situation for the benefit
of others - for the world, no less. I always savoured my contacts with him.
