This experience that Mary writes about, that we are, in fact, not all that
far removed BOTH in terms of age and in terms of interior stature, from the
people whom we've (I've!) revered for decades, is surely one of the more
startling ways that I've (we've?) noticed a growing affirmation of entering
into the elder state of being.
