This is by Jim Garrison, forwarded by Jann McGuire. When I find out more
about "creation spirituality communities," I'll let you know. I think he's
starting with a very small group of people as a steering committee.

Dear Friends,

I want to announce that Matthew Fox has informed us that he intends to

retire from active teaching at Wisdom University. Since he became President

Emeritus in January 2005, he has taught in six Intensives, about one every

two months and far more than any other teacher. He now wants to work in a

more focused way with youth and spend more time developing creation

spirituality communities.

Matthew will complete two more Intensives with Wisdom before retiring:

the upcoming Intensive on The Creation Spirituality of Meister Eckhart in

Ottawa May 10-15;

and the Intensive on Hildegaard Meets Saint John of the Cross in Ashville

August 14-18.

I would urge all of you who want to study one last time under one of the

great wisdom teachers of our era to sign up for these Intensives. I am sure

Matthew will teach again at Wisdom in due course but for the immediate

future, these will be his last.

If you want to sign up for these Intensives please go to

As an expression of our deep appreciation for everything he has done, we

have invited Matthew to give the commencement speech during the upcoming

graduation June 10th in Oakland. We will also be inviting all the teachers

and staff who helped to found UCS and nurtured the university and the

student community over the years. You might consider attending. It will be

a grand time.

I have been honored to know Matthew, to succeed him as President of this

institution, and to count him as a colleague and friend. He has taught me

much and I will continue to solicit his wise counsel and advice.

Warm Regards,

Jim
