Subject: [Oe List ...] David Reese

As you probably know, David is in hospice care. Pam stopped by to visit him
last week. Here is her report. Terry

==========================================================
I was in Oklahoma last week, so I decided to try to see David. I called and
talked with him on Thursday evening saying I wanted to come and give him
love from everyone who loves him. He was pleased I was going to visit on
Friday morning. He originially said to come at 9:30, but his daughter
convinced him he might not be awake yet, so he made it 11:15. I arrived
Friday morning to find the hospice nurse there and him sleeping in his
chair. I visited with the nurse, who said that he gets up and around the
house, but doesn't go out much. She said the day before he was livelier,
but this morning he was tired and mostly sleeping. She says he has visitors
from the church and enjoys the visits. If he says he is too tired, she just
tells people that. She was making a sandwich for his lunch. I sat on the
edge of his bed until he woke up and we visited about an hour. He is very
tired, so he dozed every so often in our visit. We talked about comings and
goings of colleagues. !
He talked fondly of times working with Dennis Jennings and about the last
months with Joyce. He says all the women who take care of him don't do it
right. He says they boss him and tell him he can't do things he wants to
do, like shave. So he had shaved that morning and I rubbed my cheek next to
his to see. Joyce's mother (who is 97?) is still next door and comes over
every day. He says he doesn't bother with e-mail anymore because it is too
tiring. I asked what I should tell people, then, so he said if you want to
get in touch, please send a card or letter. He would appreciate that.
He walked me to the door and I gave him a hug and kiss from all of us who
love him.
His address is:

1308 S. 11th St.
Chickashe, OK 73018
