[Oe List ...] Gandhi and Non-violence

My understanding of the song is that it repeats many names for God over & over, giving praise & asking blessings in many lyrical ways.  The part that I imagine appealing so much to Gandhi are these lines:

Ishwar, Allah, Tere Naam  ( meaning Ishwar or Allah - both are your names )

Mandir, Masjid, Tere Dhaam (meaning Temple or Mosque - both are your homes )

    Patit Paavana Sitaram
    Ishwar Allah Tere Naam 
    Sabko sanmati de Bhagwan

English:
Rama, the Lord of heavens
Blessed is thy name 
Some of us call you as Shiva and some others as Allah

  I'm frustrated by my inability to communicate what I'm trying to find. It has been easy getting the words as we pronounce them.  The words were in the Global Council songbook once I spelled the title correctly (as my wife easily pointed out) wives do that as you know) What I would really like to find out is the meaning of the words in the song and what it means to Indians.  Thanks for your help.
