[Oe List ...] Fred the musician

Among Fred's many skills was conducting.

Some may recall -- it was a prior's council in 1976 or thereabouts. A group 
of us had been practicing singing Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" during lunch 
hours for several weeks. I think Fred Haman or Nan Grow had found the music 
and made copies for about 20 of us.  Anyway, during the rehearsals it 
became apparent that we needed a conductor, and Fred took over. During the 
council, after the Research Centrum report, the group came "onstage" and 
Fred gave the pitch, then the group let fly with an a cappella version that 
was quite credible. Jim Bell jumped up as soon as it began, and the rest of 
the council followed suit. It was an amazing event, and Fred performed with 
considerable skill and presence.

We celebrate his completed life.
