And the first African-American woman in Congress said it, Shirley Chisholm. 
 
In my third  literacy book (You, Yes YOU, Can Teach Someone to Read:  A Step by Step How-To Book) every left-hand page has  a quote, the alphabet, and blank space for tutors' notes.  Chisholm's quote faces Community-Based Literacy, the last page of the text.  Alex Haley's wonderful "Find the good and praise it" is on the following page, facing the Acknowledgements.
