The two years that Fred was in OKC RH were, primarily due to his
leadership, very good ones. Fred married Pam and I in 1971 during the
middle of that assignment. Golf, of all things, was the catalyst that
brought us after a 30 year break. It was our mutual concern about social
change and our understanding of the transparency of the gospel, however,
that remained at the heart of our connection. We quickly established a
tradition of going out for a drink and conversation after each round. We
had two wonderful afternoons with him, his wife, and his daughter during
the past three weeks, even though he was becoming terribly frail. Despite
this, he continued to orchestrate enthralling discussion on a range of
topics. I'll miss him.
