I am Hubert Fulkerson and this is my favorite Carol Pierce story:
"A long time ago when I was first  in Chicago I was assigned to
go out and find a job [ one of those summers when almost every one went out to get a job to cover an impending short fall [ or as they call it now a cash flow crisis ].   I asked Carol to be a reference for me.  When potentual employers call to check my references she did a stunning performance pretending that I was her supervisor.   It really was helpful, except when I appeared over-qualified."
