Hello Jim and Isobel, [and all]

Thank you so much for at least the hint of a global context. We had a fine
time in Denver, but I am painfully aware that in spite of broad intentions,
we had a frightfully parochial context: no non-westerners or 'southerners'
most notably.

There was deep gratitude for a chance to be gathered, deep gratitude for
being carried through the two to three decades of apartness that we all have
experienced, and considerable interest in continuing and broadening the
conversation about our order's calling and form. The earth is a frightfully
worrisome place with too urgent needs too little acknowledged.

Any conversation about the future that involves only Americans, however, is
also frighteningly worrisome.

By the grace of God, what makes me who I am is that I got bigger and deeper
than American and Christian; my soul mates have names like Oakley,
Dharmalingam, Mustiso and Shrivastiva. Let's talk about how to reconvene our
cross-cultural, cross-geographical, cross-religion connection.

I fear that there is no future for us without the diversity of perspective
and soul-sensibility that enlarged us.
