Shirley Henschen asked me to write and tell you all what is  happening.  On 
Monday Larry entered Arizona Heart Hospital for surgery on  an aneurysm on a 
descending aorta.  The surgery was to have been about 3  hours.  Shirley and I 
were there most of the day as it became a 7 hour  surgery.  We saw him late 
afternoon and he wasn't responding as expected at  that time.  Later that night 
the neurologist told her Larry had had a  massive stroke during the surgery and 
that the right side of the body was  paralyzed and most probably his active 
and receptive speech would be  affected.  It is now Thursday and no change.  He 
is breathing with the  aid of machines.  This afternoon Carla and Patty, 
their daughters, are  arriving from Texas and together they will make the 
necessary decisions.  I  was there this morning when Shirley spoke again to the 
neurologist and he  described the process Larry was in and held out almost no hope 
of  recovery.
