Dear "Prayer League,"
 
Here's the situation.  We saw the oncologist yesterday.  Fred has metastatic

renal cell carcinoma in 3  lymph node sites:  at the base of his neck on the

left side, and on either side of his abdomen in the kidney area.  The good
news 
(I think) is that it isn't in his remaining kidney.  There is a new pill 
being used for this type cancer that seems to be working well, but of course
with 
side effects, the most serious of which is bleeding that can happen anywhere

in the body.
 
Tomorrow we'll see the cardiologist to be sure his heart muscle is strong 
enough to go through treatment.  Friday he'll get a bone scan to establish a
base 
line before treatment.  So treatment can likely begin next week.  Fred has 
been through so much, and deeply appreciates your thoughts and prayers.  As
do I.
