Dear Richard,

We  are looking for an energetic person with proven organizing skills to join 
 our team at the national headquarters in Berkeley, CA, as a full-time  
national organizer for the Network of Spiritual Progressives. (NSP).  Please

The primary initial focus of the job will involve  building a visible, 
vibrant, and loving movement in the San Francisco Bay  area to 
    *   promote and work toward implementation of our New Bottom Line  
    *   get national support for a Global Marshall Plan and its underlying  
strategy of generosity to replace the strategy of domination currently  shaping 
American foreign policy  
    *   challenge current conceptions of what is “realistic” in politics and 
 to promote our Spiritual Covenant with America  
    *   grow our membership in the Bay Area and around the U.S. and Canada  
The organizer will meet with clergy and their congregations, labor  union 
leaders, and progressive organizations, and lead a campaign to get  our ideas 
into public discourse in media and through ballot measures. 
Learning from this local experience, the organizer will also support  local 
chapter leaders around the country, planning and writing resource  materials 
for local chapters, coordinating volunteers, fundraising, and  organizing 
national projects that will give the NSP and its parent  organization, Tikkun 
magazine, media and public attention.

This job  is for a "people person" with excellent communication and proven  
organizing and recruitment skills. You'll need a lot of energy, the  ability to 
speak publicly on difficult and contentious issues, good  organizational 
skills, a sense of humor, and a passionate dedication to  the NSP and Tikkun 
philosophy as outlined in the Core Vision, available  from 
www.spiritualprogressives.org. The position is salaried and will  require substantially more than 40 
hours a week including evenings and  weekends; we are looking for someone 
passionate about the vision and  willing to pour a lot of energy into making it 
come to life. The position  will be based out of our Berkeley office. If you have
