When we returned from a brief visit with Bob and Sandy
Rafos, I turned on my email and was overwhelmed with
“Subject:  Re: Secondary  Ethics, etc. etc, etc.  I
searched to find the origin of this flood and finally
found Marshalls’s Earthrise Witness.   What an
amazing, swirling, soaring, and mundane dialogue
flowed from it.   To all who participated in this
tectonic occurrence I extend the arms of warmest
embrace.  As a symbol thanks to all of you, I extend a
special thanks to Marshall for initiating it and to
John Kroger for the most powerful counter-point.  

Last Sunday at church the preacher at our 8:30 service
talked about the community of the faithful.  As we
sang the final hymn, The Servant Song by Richard
Gillard, I was reminded of the wonderful dialogue I
had been reading from you, and all the others who did
not write, my eyes misted over in gratitude for my
continuing community.  Here is the hymn.  I include
the last verse because it is the last verse.  However,
it seem to me that we are already singing in heaven.

Brother, sister, let me serve you, let me be as Christ
to you;
Pray that I may have the grace to let you be my
servant, too.

We are pilgrims on a journey, we’re together on the
road.
We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear
the load.

I will hold the Christ light for you in the darkness
of your fear;
I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you
long to hear.

I will weep when you are weeping; when you laugh, I’ll
laugh with you.  
I will share your joy and sorrow till we’ve seen this
journey through.

When we sing to God in heaven, we shall find such
harmony,
Born of all we’ve known together of Christ’s love and
agony.
