[Oe List ...] Some Reflections

Dear Doris,

Well said. Your feelings and experiences reflect our own in many ways. We
have carried the ICA learnings into many churches, NGO's and countries,
sometimes mentioning its name, sometimes not, depending upon the context.

We too have been in and out of the Kemper building numerous times, staying
overnight and visiting friends, without always fully understanding the current
financial details of life there.

The recent actions of the Board, as we become aware of them, are stunning and
inexplicable. Our experience in the Order was shaped by our earlly membership
in the Christian Faith & Life Commuhity in Austin and then simultaneous roles
as Methodist missionaries and permeators. We had a paying job most of the
time. This kept us tied to the world in ways some of our old Order colleagues
were not. In the Indianapolis House when we first shifted to 'independent
financial units' it was not a difficult transition.

We have a lot of respect and appreciation for those who have continued to
carry the flag of the ICA through unified program activities. It has not been
easy. And some folk after these many years have little or no outside resources.

While there are no ready answers or solutions in sight, we share the concerns
many of you in the Order have expressed, and feel this is unfinished business
seeking a more just, equatable and forward looking closure..

Grace and peace,

Jesse Clements
