Essentially, they're trying to use 'prayer' to manipulate reality as to
magically remove what they see to be a problem. Bonhoeffer did not engage
in 'ill-wishing,' but in action. He joined with others who believed - as
did many in the German Army High Command - that removing Hitler would
transform the insanity of the situation.
According to the polls, we are not seeing a mass hysteria sustained by a
charismatic leader in the USA. Nor are we seeing mass public arrests and
summary executions ordered by a racist and nationalist megalomaniac.
We are seeing a relatively strong opposition movement publicly developing,
and with active legislative leadership. In that setting, seeking to act
with violence seems to me to be inappropriate.
