[Oe List ...] Twins all grown up

Dear Jim and Judy, 

Dhondiram and Shanker lived with Lloyd Philbrook in Kamweleni, Kenya at the HDTI during the 1980s.  Those boys were hillariously funny and sooo smart. They entertained themselves easily being built in playmates for each other. Once when attending the Kamweleni kindergarden. The school had a concrete floor, and black painted on the walls for the blackboard. Of course we did not have electricity, but we did have that huge pyramid water tank in the school compound right next to the community center where the project staff temporarilly lived.  The teacher had little teaching equipment, but she dutifully taught the ABCs and all the students wrote on their little chalk boards or recited it verbally. Of course the pronunciation of the teacher was Kenyan English, a bit different than they had heard before and they laughed and laughed at the teacher, but followed along. The boys were laughing and laughing in the back of the room, so the teacher brought them to
 the front of the room and asked them to recite the alphabet which they did... first forwards and then backwards perfectly! Then they both broke into laughter at the end of the presentation and so did the whole class.  What a riot!

This is one of the lasting images of those boys, always laughing and always creating something different and new to a situation which to some children might have been daunting, but not them!

"The twins", Shanker and Dhondiram Wiegel, turn 30 tomorrow.  Both married, Shanker lives in Aurora, CO with his wife, Lisa and 2 small daughters, Molly and Miranda; Dhondi lives in Peoria, AZ with his wife Lariate and small son, Calvin.
 
If you have stories or greetings or wisdom to pass on, send them to me.  I will collect and present them.  30.  Hard for me to believe my children have grown.  But . . .
 
Thanks, and thanks for all the care and attention and good will passed to them and our family over the years by this community around the world.
