[Oe List ...] Georgianna McBurney 80th Birthday

Many of you remember Georgianna (and George) McBurney from the days of the
North Shore Cadre, the Guardians, the Global Women’s Forum, the Ecumenical
Institute, etc. etc. etc.  George has been gone from us for several years
now, but Georgianna is just as much the active futuric thinker you may
remember.  She lives in Malibu (having been evacuated recently due to the
fires coming right up to her parking lot at her town house complex).  We
have been close to Georgianna (and George before his passing) since the mid
1980s.  Georgianna was a founding board member of the FOOD FOR ALL
organization which Linda and I founded, and she guided the international
grantmaking arm of that organization for almost 15 years.  She has been more
recently active in “Malibu politics” in terms of trying to get the city
leadership prepared for the future.

 

Well, Georgianna will be 80 next week on Tuesday.  As far as we know, there
is not a huge 80th birthday celebration planned.  Linda and I are going to
stay with her Sunday night and take her to a birthday lunch and movie on
Monday.  We know she would be delighted to hear from any of you who “knew
her when” and shared in the journey of service which she is still on.  Her
E-mail is down at the present time (we are hoping to get her back online
this weekend), so if you send greetings, memories, stories of your
encounters with this remarkable woman to us at the address below, we will
print them up and take them to her.  This will be an activity we can share
with her on Monday.  

 

The only thing is, you only have until Saturday night to get these
sentiments to us (although we will still get any latecomers to her after the
fact), because we are going to be away nday.  However, we know you are up to
the assignment.  Let us hear from you and we will be sure to pass your words
