I reflect on our individual 'losses' over the years and the reality that many will lose 'everything' to a firestorm...and yet will survive, with the courage to start over.

          Dear James and Phyllis,
Thank you both for your care for us all in reminding us of the gems from Hafiz, and Gibran, and the importance of Spiritual Care Week, in your country. Here in "Aus" I do not think I have ever heard mention of such a week, although we have Special Weeks and Days for a host of important and compassionate causes. It was a joy to read the words of the Masters. Rum'is Anniversary is sometime in November?..... Birthday I mean.

I think that I speak for all of us Aussies on this listserve as California faces such terrible bushfires- especially as it is coming on to winter there, and unseasonal. I hear of excellent efforts to help people flee their homes, and of lives being saved as a result.
Our bushfire season alert began officially on October 1, and we have no way of knowing how it will play out- from now till the end of March.
I was hoping that our Federal Government would send over to assist your efforts some of our expert fire scientist/ wizards; as over the last few years since our National capital Canberra was devastated by bushfires, in about 2003/4- the analysts have deepened their learnings and our last bushfire season much of their newly learned wisdom was put to very good use.
Thinking of you today, and I agree with the comments that what we gained from our common life--- more than made up a hundredfold; for a few losses of special mementoes from an earlier life.
  Grace and peace,
  Isobel Bishop

Today is the beginning of Spiritual Care Week. Thought you might like this poem from a collection called, "Born from Silence"

  Every
  Child
  Has known God,
  Not the God of names,
  Not the God of don't's,
Not the God who ever does
  Anything wierd,
But the God who only knows four words
  And keeps repeating them, saying:
  "Come dance with Me."
  Come
  Dance.
