I wonder how many other treasures are in different places! I have a number of boxes here; both Abe and I tended to keep things that struck us as inspiring and valuable - which was almost everything from EI/ICA. My papers aren't cataloged or well organized, though - need a lot of work. But I will do at least some rough sorting - maybe after the Living Legacy event?!

I agree, Pat - good idea to have David Dunn and his Denver colleague work on Paul Evans' files. They are good folks.

  Hi Gini,

It's good to hear from you. And what a treasure you are holding while looking for a good home for it.

I'm going through my parents' files that my brother kept when he finalized my mothers estate. There were just a few saved out of my fathers extensive files. I've discovered some amazing things. Daddy kept all his PLC notes! He had my Credo that I wrote at Perkins. I have his 1975 Journal of the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, the year he retired. It lists, under special appointments, John Baringer, George Holcombe, Joseph Thomas and Walter Baker assigned as interns, Ecumenical Institute, Chicago, and Clarence Snelling, Jr. as Assoc. Prof, Illif Seminary. There may be a few others I missed. It's quite an experience to go through these papers.

As to suggestions for what to do with Paul's files, I recommend letting David Dunn receive them. He may have the equipment to deal with the tape reels or know where to do so. He is passionate about our archives and I think he would be a good steward of the material and when a consensus is reached about the archives, would know if/or when it would be appropriate to place these archives with the ones in Chicago.

David, what do you think? And others?

  My two cents.

  Pat

I'm looking for a "good home" for the EI/OE/ICA archives from my father, Paul Evans. They include documents, tapes, reels, notes and some photos. And for those of you who remember Paul Evans, you will know that they are in labeled folders and the tapes come boxed, with a complete and detailed index of the entire contents. My hope is that they would go to a person or group who would allow access to others who might want access. (I'd rather not try to divide the contents.) I don't know the condition of the tapes since I don't have the appropriate equipment. One reel contains the "Singing of Summer '72". How I would love to purchase a CD, if it could be produced from the reel! I'd also love to listen to some of the lectures as they were originally recorded - IF they can be converted for use with contemporary electronic equipment.

Below is a basic index of the materials in three and a half file boxes. Please let me know if you have any recommendations of where they should go. I am willing to pay for shipping, once the "good home" is identified. Even if you are not interested in being the recipient, please feel free to make suggestions. I can be reached, "off-line" at vnatali at frontiernet.net, by phone at (530) 258-4203 or at P.O. Box 1138, Chester, CA 96020.

I faithfully read the wonderful entries on Dialogue and would love to hear from any of you. The material on Dialogue continues to inform and inspire me, year after year. Thank You all, so much!!!!
