Thanks to Karen Bueno, Marshall Jones, John Cock and Diann McCabe for your help with my quey about "the Beloved Community". I've followed up the Wikipedia article and enjoyed the Smith/Zepp paper. A great eschatological image to put alongside the KoG, the New Reality, and so on - I had no idea that "the Beloved Community" was such a prominent phrase until some of the past year's emails on the Dialogue.
But then I remember someone (I can't remember who) at a student conference (Sydney, Jan 1974) suggest that the KoG is now - it's within you - introspective and meditational and so on. It's also in the outworking of your life - very much a "process theology" and "social justice" emphasis? It's also the vision you aim for. And so on. (I must check it alongside that Summer - S/78 I think - on the KoG and the NR.) The main speaker at that conference was Krister Stendahl, then Dean of Harvard Divinity School, so it might have been him. Stendahl did have some wonderful sayings eg "Jesus said 'Man does not live by bread alone' .... but he never said it to the poor!"
Best wishes
